Client’s Need:
Create a website for New York Times Best Selling author Ted Dekker. The site needed to showcases all Ted’s work and be easy for the client to update and keep the site content fresh. In addition, a street team was needed to guide Ted Dekker’s fans in spreading the word about his highly anticipated final addition to the Circle Series, the novel Green.

Buzzplant Solution:

Buzzplant developed a customized website using WordPress as the foundation for the site in order to integrate the clients’ needs to update the site frequently. The website includes a specially created Flash Book Reader that Buzzplant developed. This reader allows the client to release unpublished work on the website and update it often. The site can be viewed at http://teddekker.com.

In addition, Buzzplant managed the Forest Guard (street team) in a campaign supporting Ted Dekker’s novel Green for four months in the summer and fall of 2009. This campaign was extremely successful surpassing goals set at the beginning of the campaign.
Highlights for the campaign include:

  • Green debuted on the New York Times Best Sellers list for hard covers in September and held a spot in the top 25 for multiple weeks.
  • 3373 people joined the Forest Guard with 2145 active users.
  • 12,700 new readers signed up for special offers prior to the book’s release (surpassing publisher’s original goal of 10,000).
  • Forest Guard members were responsible for 676 downloads of the book Black as part of a one-week promotion.
  • Forest Guard members reported over 6500 social media mentions or adds for Green & Ted Dekker (on sites like Facebook & Twitter).
  • Over 890 pictures and screenshots were submitted by Forest Guard members displaying their efforts in their communities both offline and online.
